　かつてNTTドコモに勤務し、iモードの海外展開を担当したこともあるという同氏は今回の説明会冒頭で「日本のモバイルは世界をリードすることになるのか。これまでと比べどうなるのか。Androidをどう取り込むのか議論も多く行われている」と指摘したほか、サムスン製のAndroid 2.3搭載スマートフォン「NEXUS S」でNFC（次世代の非接触IC技術）を搭載したことで、「日本で携帯電話に関わってきた身からすると今更と感じなくはないし、欧米でなぜ普及しないのかと疑問に思ったりするが、NFCはエコシステムがとても複雑」として、主要プレーヤーが音頭をとらなければ業界が動かないと指摘。そこで今回はAndroidでNFCを搭載することになったとする。
